The backcountry flying scene in MSFS 2024 is without a doubt one of the sim’s most interesting niches, and a new release from The Attic Flyer Studio adds another worthwhile entry to that list. 41CA Silver Creek Ranch is now available on Orbx Direct, and it’s a pretty different proposition compared to the airstrips we’ve been covering lately.
Set in the South Fork Trinity River valley in Northern California, 41CA is not a gentle introduction to backcountry flying. The approach as leaves very little room for correction, with a 1,600-foot grass runway tucked into a tight valley. This is the kind of strip where energy management and situational awareness matter before you even see the threshold.
The scenery itself centres on what the developer calls Silver Creek Ranch, a detailed ranch environment along the Trinity River featuring rustic cabins, campsite areas, and surrounding terrain modelled at what Orbx describes as “handcrafted 4K PBR” quality.
What makes 41CA a bit more unusual, though, is the inclusion of rideable cable cars crossing the valley. It’s a small detail, but it gives the location a sense of character that goes beyond the airstrip itself, and it’s the kind of thing that makes a backcountry scene worth spending more than five minutes at. Very cool!
For California backcountry simmers, Orbx is also offering a California airstrip bundle that pairs 41CA with other regional strips at a combined saving, though individual pricing for 41CA comes in at €10.34 / $12.12 USD / £8.98.
41CA Silver Creek Ranch for MSFS 2024 is available now, exclusively on Orbx Direct.
